Summer will soon be here and so will the sound of wedding bells! Our personalized wedding samplers have been a very popular gift for many special couples. These can include their names and the date of their wedding. We have a variety of homespun fabrics to choose from for the background. These come framed with a black distressed frame and set under glass. We tea-dye the muslin to give the sampler an antiqued look.

Storage and getting organized
My craft work space/office is in need of some serious organization! My biggest need is some cabinets for storage and organization. My Dad had a huge old two door cabinet that he is letting me have to start the project. It great!! It 's about 7 feet tall and almost 5 feet wide. I love the way it looks too! :) I also have an antique wardrobe in the room that has a door and several drawers.
The next step will be to construct cabinets for the rest of the available wall space. I purchased 15 or so cabinet doors last year at a garage sale for 10 cents a piece not really knowing what I would eventually do with them. I am taking those door measurements and designing the size of the wall cabinets.
Just yesterday I drove by a pile of lumber out in someone's yard. I was able to salvage several 6 foot long shelving pieces and two medium sized scraps of bead board. All for $5.00. I'm getting pretty excited about all of the possibilities!! My husband, being so realistic, keeps my thoughts in perspective by reminding me that I really know nothing about cabinet making. While that is true, I still have hope!! He's is a great handy man and does know a little about the process, so I figure that if we put his knowledge together with all of my energy and excitement we might be able to make it work.
I will keep you updated on my organization progress.

Mother's Day is fast approaching!
What would you have done without your Mom when you were little? Mom's have a way of knowing what you are thinking. They can spot a "I've had a really bad day at school" look from 10 feet away. I think they are born with eyes in the back of their heads! They are expert snack producers. And did you ever wonder how a simple kiss on the elbow could REALLY make the hurt stop?
As an adult, we also treasure our Moms, but in a different way. Mom invests a lot of time into our lives and cares about the details, wanting to make it to each of the grandkids soccer games, music concerts and special events. Mom listens and helps you work through tough decisions. She is there to give advice when you need it and a smile or a hug at just the right time.
We have some Mother's Day Gift Baskets available for you to get Mom this year. Each comes with some unique primitive gifts that will let her know how special she is to you. Be a blessing to your Mom today!

My very FIRST post!!
Greetings everyone! I'm excited to have Hearthside Happenings up and running! I have added several new products to the store this week. Hope you can check them out. We now have battery operated grungy bowl candles. These are in a wood bowl and surrounded with burgundy pip berries and rusty metal stars. The candle twists easily so you can put the light out whenever you're not using it to save the life of the battery. You can find them on the Berries and Wreaths page.
We also have a new category, Stars. There are three different sizes of rusty barn stars available as well as some that are framed. I mounted them on homespun fabric and stitched one simple word at the top. In stock now, I have "Faith", "Hope" and "Love".
There are also 3 new label designs on the 26oz. buttered maple syrup candles too. I think my favorite is the "Primitives" design with the samplers and salt box houses.
I am looking forward to meeting new friends here at Hearthside Happenings!
